You can’t fool me! Real celebrities and their appliances

New York resident Brett Cohen has fooled Times Square visitors into thinking he was a famous celebrity as part of a one-night only social experiment – and the video has gone viral.

The 21-year-old university student filmed his experience, which consisted of donning a Hollywood tan and expensive clothes, and taking to the streets accompanied by two bodyguards and a number of planted faux paparazzi.

Convincing the crowd that he famous may have been embarrassingly easy for Mr Cohen, but the Appliances Online team can spot a true celebrity from a mile away.

Here is a list of our top three celebrities and their endorsed appliances!

1. Jim Carrey (as Juicy J the Juice Man) and his Juice Wheezel

In a spoof of an infomercial for a new juicer – and referencing “the father of juicing” Jay Kordich – funnyman Jim Carrey highlights all of the benefits of the faux appliance the Juice Wheezel, before attempting to fly out the window.

While the Juice Wheezel may not be real, Carrey taps into the craze surrounding juicing in the early 1990s and convinces us that juicers can even bring your body back to life.

2. Hulk Hogan and his Ultimate Grill

Sticking with the infomercial (and 90s star) theme, next on our list is wrestling legend Hulk Hogan and his Ultimate Grill.

Released in 2007, the dual surface electric contact grill claimed to be able to cook everything from waffles and quesadillas to 30-second toasted cheese sandwiches on its interchangeable plates.

Unfortunately the product (and its hilarious “hunger goes down for the count” tagline) was recalled just a year later, after shopping network QVC received five reports of the grill igniting or flaring up – leaving George Foreman the king of the grilling ring.

3. George Clooney and his Nespresso coffee machine

The subject of desire for many, the award-winning actor and humanitarian brings the right mixture of style, sophistication and good looks to the iconic brand.

After signing with Nespresso in 2006, Clooney has helped to make the coffee machines – and its unique capsule system – one of the most popular models on the market.

All the way from the land of the flightless bird, Krissy brings a part of New Zealand culture to the Appliances Online content team. And although she is adamant she does not say 'fush and chups', she can't deny her continuous use of the term 'sweet as' and her ongoing argument with her team on the correct name for jandals (thongs). One thing is for certain, however, her passion for her kiwi slang is matched with her love for sharing news, hacks and buying tips for all things appliances! Krissy's favourite appliance is the Tefal Cook4Me multi cooker, as she believes it's ok to let an appliance do all the work for you.
