Where do water stains come from?Answer:

The bowls in the washing machines are designed to extract the water from the clothes during the spin cycle. As the machine spins, the water in the clothes is dragged towards and out of the holes in the bowl, this action creates a shadowing effect (water stains) as the water is unevenly extracted from the clothes.

Once the items are hung out and are completely dry they will no longer have this appearance.
