Your guide to Samsung WaterWall dishwashers
March 9th, 2015
Wondering what’s up with these WaterWall dishwashers you keep hearing about?
Here are the facts on Samsung’s latest innovation in dishwashing, including info on how the technology works, and what it can do for you:
What is a WaterWall?
Well, it’s not a song by Oasis. Nor is it something that you don’t go chasin’.
Instead, it’s a special form of dishwashing technology, developed by Samsung to provide provide corner-to corner dishwashing coverage, using a moving curtain of water rather than spinning spray.
How does a WaterWall dishwasher work?
Once you’ve loaded up your dishes and selected your cycle, a WaterWall dishwasher will start cleaning your dishes much like any other dishwasher… but with one very important difference:
Rather than using rotating spray arms to rinse your dishes, Samsung’s WaterWall technology combines high-pressure water jets with a sliding angled bar, directing a powerful curtain of water back and forth through the dishwasher.
What’s so good about WaterWall technology?
We love dishwashers at Appliances Online, but they can sometimes be a bit unreliable. With their spray typically distributed via spinning arms, they can sometimes miss the tricky corners of the dishwasher’s cavity, resulting in an uneven wash where some dishes end up squeaky clean and others just a bit wet.
Using the WaterWall, Samsung dishwashers spray water evenly across their entire cavity, ensuring that every section receives an equal level of cleaning.
In turn, this means there’s less need for you to pre-rinse or scrub your dishes before they go into the dishwasher, as the WaterWall’s powerful jets will do the hard work for you.
What else can a WaterWall dishwasher do?
“So is that all a WaterWall dishwasher has to offer? A slightly unusal spray delivery system? Doesn’t it have any other features?”
Hang on a sec there, rhetorical questioner. There are a few other great reasons to consider selecting a WaterWall to be your kitchen’s next dishwasher:
Washing a mixed load of lightly-soiled plates and heavily food-encrusted pots and pans can be tricky. Too light a wash and only half the load gets clean, but a full intensive cycle will use way more power and water than necessary.
Samsung has developed a solution to this problem in the form of the Zone Booster setting. Providing an intensive clean to either the left or right side of the lower rack, this mode is a much more efficient way to clean a mixed load of dishes.
While several dishwasher brands are now including a shallow cutlery tray at the top of the dishwashers rather than the traditional basket at the base, Samsung has taken this convenient option a step further with the addition of the Flex Tray.
You can use this removable and flexible tray to effortlessly load or unload all of your knives, forks and spoons all at once, rather than one at time. Now, THAT’s convenience!
Samsung WaterWall dishwashers also automatically open their doors at the end of each cycle. Now, that may not sound like that on paper (or on the screen), but opening the dishwasher door at the end of a cycle is essential if you want to release the steam so your dishes can dry properly.
With the WaterWall, you won’t have to stop what you’re doing to go and open the dishwasher when it’s done – all you have to do is switch it on, and let the appliance take care of everything for you. Except for putting the dishes away, of course – you’ll still have to look after that.
