Appliances Online wins big at the 2016 Online Retail Industry Awards!

Last Thursday, the 21 st of July, was a spectacular night! The food, outstanding; the drinks, flowing; the atmosphere, dazzling; and Appliances Online, took home 4 awards from the Startrack Online Retail Awards!
Yes, you heard right. Appliances Online took out Best Pure-Play Online Retailer and Online Retailer of the Year, while our founder and CEO of the Winning Group, John Winning, received the Industry Recognition Award.
Appliances Online was also inducted into the retail Hall of Fame– wow what an achievement!
And although John couldn’t attend as he is currently in Africa bravely climbing Mt Kilimanjaro for the Cure Brain Cancer fundraising climb, our team made sure they were there to honour and celebrate him and everyone else at Appliances Online.

John did, however, have a surprise for us all. After he was announced, in the most spectacular way possible*, to be the Industry Recognition Award winner, he voiced his acceptance speech via video from Mt Kilimanjaro, which was played on the big screen.
* This year, the Industry Recognition Award was led by a squad of Daft Punk-eqsue neon-lit robots, which appeared armed with what resembled multi-coloured light sabres- Powerretail
During his acceptance speech, John wanted to dedicate the award to “those who have helped me build the company, thanks to their hard work over the past 12 years. I think as an industry, we have a long way to go and I know we still have a long way to go with Appliances Online. It’s super exciting and the people in the room tonight will help shape the future and there will be plenty more coming through that we haven’t even seen yet. It’s only early days and I think we have a very bright future for online retail.”– John Winning
Winning Group chief financial officer Aaron Links was there to accept the awards on behalf of John and the entire Appliances Online team. “We have won awards previously but this has been a very successful year for us.”– Aaron Links

This was definitely one of Appliances Online’s best award years, and to be there to celebrate with the team was something else! Well done John Winning and the rest of Appliances Online for all your hard work and dedication.

Best Pure-Play Online Retailer award
This category is open to new and established pure-play online retailers who demonstrate best practise in merchandising, service, functionality and customer experience.
Industry Recognition award
A special award for the individual who has made the most outstanding contribution to the e-commerce industry in Australia.
Online Retailer of the Year award
The best of the best- the recipient is selected from all of the 2016 categories as being the best of the best in Australia online retailing in 2016.
Hall of Fame award
This award honours the legends of retail, and a few standouts will be inducted based on overall performance in previous ORIAS.
