The boss of Australia’s largest online appliance retailer claims there are “big plans” for the future of the company as it celebrates its sixth birthday.

John Winning, founder and CEO of Appliances Online, founded the e-commerce site in 2005 and has seen a 100 per cent growth in total revenue every year since its inauguration.

He said the past six years have been a steep learning curve, but remains confident there is huge potential for the business to expand further.

“While our growth has been exponential to date, we plan to continue to grow by 100 per cent year-on-year as we buy warehouses throughout Australia and enable next-day delivery to most of the population,” he said.

“We are also expanding into other product ranges and are launching a new business in the next few months.

“We have big plans for the year ahead.”

The sixth birthday has been marked with a sale across all ranges on the Appliances Online website, and bosses are hoping for a strong response despite lingering questions over the state of the online retail sector.

PayPal Australia Research predicts Australian online retail sales will grow by 12 per cent year-on-year until 2013, but figures from Appliances Online show their growth rate is much faster, predicting growth rates at more than 100 per cent in the next 12 months.
