Fisher & Paykel has issued a product recall on a number of its older refrigerators, initiating a “precautionary part replacement” on an electrical connection in the freezer compartment.

The affected serial numbers start with the following letters:

According to the brand’s vice president of corporate planning and investor relations Matt Orr, Fisher & Paykel remains committed to quality products.

“In rare circumstances an electrical connection in the freezer compartment can short circuit, potentially causing a fire and/or the melting of components in the refrigerator. There have been no reports of injury,” he said yesterday (September 11).

“While this fault is likely to impact only a very small number of what was a modest production run of refrigerator models made five to six years ago, we are committed to moving quickly to eliminate any potential risks”.

Fisher & Paykel has stated that customers with an affected refrigerator can continue to use the fresh foods section only until the part is replaced.

Customers with these refrigerators are urged to contact the brand via the designated website, phone number (1300 800 108) or email (refrigeration.team@fisherpaykel.com).
