Appliance Talk

It seems like every family has a budding chef in its mix – and if your Dad is the king of the kitchen, then there are a number of appliances that he might love to get this Father’s Day.

There is a fine art to baking the perfect pie – not only is it time-coming to prepare the case and the filling, but all your hard work can be ruined by burnt pastry!

There are few foods more masculine than a meat pie, so why not help Dad whip some up quickly and easily with the Breville BPI640 Aussie Pie Maker.

The non-stick surface makes cooking four pies – including crimped edges – at a time a breeze, and Dad will have the freedom to try out whichever flavours takes his fancy.

If your Dad prefers to show some food finesse and prepare dishes more delicate than pies, then perhaps the Sunbeam Cafe Series ES9600 Food Slicer might be the appliance for him.

Featuring a German-made circular blade and a deli-style tilted design, this unit offers a variable thickness slicing dial of between 0 and 23mm – making it ideal for meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables and breads.

But as every aspiring cook will know, washing up is the only thing that can ruin a delicious meal.

While Dad might like to indulge in some homemade fries or even some crispy donuts, a deep fryer can be a great tool to have in the kitchen but it’s not much fun to clean!

The Tefal FR7013 Deep Fryer features a unique filtration and drainage system, channelling the oil safely to a storage container underneath once you finish frying.

There is also the option to utilise separate storage containers for different types of food, as well a useful oil change indicator.

All non-electrical parts are dishwasher safe and the fine mesh filter collects food particles before they get a chance to contaminate the oil.

All the way from the land of the flightless bird, Krissy brings a part of New Zealand culture to the Appliances Online content team. And although she is adamant she does not say 'fush and chups', she can't deny her continuous use of the term 'sweet as' and her ongoing argument with her team on the correct name for jandals (thongs). One thing is for certain, however, her passion for her kiwi slang is matched with her love for sharing news, hacks and buying tips for all things appliances! Krissy's favourite appliance is the Tefal Cook4Me multi cooker, as she believes it's ok to let an appliance do all the work for you.
