Nothing says the silly season like cooking up a feast at home. But with all of the juggling of wire racks and shuffling around of dishes in the oven, it can be hard to get everything cooked correctly and on time.

Westinghouse has launched a new 90cm Freestanding Cooker just in time for Christmas, and it’s guaranteed to help households with all of their entertaining plans.

With a 125L gross capacity, the oven can comfortably fit four roast chickens and vegetables, or 72 mini cupcakes in the oven in one go.

There are four models in the range, all of which have a multifunction electric oven, while three have gas hobs and one with a ceramic electric hob. There is also an electric underbench oven model.

There is a strong focus on keeping things clean and tidy. Most of the freestanding models also have a handy storage compartment at the base, ideal for oven accessories and racks – all of which is hidden behind a stainless steel kick plate to complete the integrated look.

Selected models also come with catalytic liners, the oven cavity is seamless and the grill trays have been split into two, so you only need to clean what you use.

The new 90cm Freestanding Cooker has also been designed and built in Australia, with local families in mind.

The cooker also features touch controls and fully programmable timers on selected models and the Twin Fan System – which sees the components rotate in opposite directions – is designed to ensure the best heat distribution and even cooking result.

A lot of thought has been put into the new range – everything from easy to use hobs and flat trivets through to a quick cook setting that heats the oven to 180 degrees Celsius in just eight and a half minutes.

Attention to safety has also been given. The large oven window allows for maximum visibility of food in the oven, and features three layers of glass plus a special door cooling system which keeps the exterior temperature at 29 degrees Celsius above the ambient room temperature when the oven is set at 200 degrees Celsius.

According to Westinghouse spokesperson and chef Karen Martini, the new models are set to make a significant difference to Australian kitchens.

“I think the new Westinghouse range is going to make it a lot easier for people to cook at home because what they’ll be doing is instead of queuing dishes to go into the oven, they can actually cook everything at once, which I think makes life easier and you don’t have to worry about timing so much and nothing gets cold because you’ve cooked it first.

“Imagine a Christmas lunch – you put the roast vegetables in, you’re baking a whole ham or a chicken or a shoulder of pork – it can now all happen at once.”

The Westinghouse 90cm freestanding cooker range starts at $1,899 RRP for the entry-level dual fuel model, right up to $2,499 for the built-in oven model, and they’ll be available from Appliances Online now!
