Now you see it now you don’t: the hideaway kitchen
March 14th, 2012
Two hideaway kitchen design ideas you’ve never seen before.
The insane success of cooking shows like MasterChef and My Kitchen Rules has left many Australians wishing for a big new kitchen.
A dream kitchen, decked out with all the latest snazzy appliances, with loads of benchspace and room to move, to prep to create to entertain!
One of those professional looking set ups – just like on TV.
A kitchen that one is proud to show off. Not a kitchen to hide away.
But not everyone has been wooed by the showtime chefs.
Some would love to simply sweep away the mess with the swipe of a hand.
Enter the kitchen with sliding panels that reveals or hides itself in a flash.
The Kitchen Hide System
Theodore Thonga has conceptualised a kitchen that tucks away mess on a bench instantly. It’s also a clever idea for small houses and apartments where space is a premium. Doubling up a room’s purpose is an efficient way to economise space.
Now try stretching your imagination far further than sliding doors.
The Kitchen Hideaway
As part of a design competition for appliances in the future, an Australian, Daniel Dobrogorsky, came up with a virtual reality idea where people can use a headset to make themselves food virtually.
Pop it on and the hungry soul can imagine an actual kitchen and then how the meal would be prepared.
The thoughts are sent to robotic chefs that will then make the food exactly as ‘ordered’- eat your heart out reality cooking shows.
