According to Morphy Richards, decorating the kitchen instead of full refurbishments is the best way to brighten up a home. Enter the new Plum Kettle and Toaster by Morphy Richards. Joining the already colourful Berry Blue and Cherry Red range of kettles and toasters, as well as the uniquely lit Iluma kettle, the Plum Kettle and Toaster will most likely be introduced in February.

The Plum Meno traditional kettle (43897) has a pyramid shaped body with a dark trim detail and can be used with a 360-degree connector. It also features a removable limescale filter, water window and has a maximum capacity of 1.5 litres. The matching Accents four-slice toaster (44737), features variable width toasting chambers, a high lift function for easy removal and also reheat, frozen and cancel buttons.

The small appliance makers have also refreshed their food preparation range, Accents. The new range includes a three-in-one hand blender. It features a 600-watt motor and soft grip handle, along with eight speed settings for blending, whipping, chopping, and crushing ice – ideal for those summer cocktails.

There is also a Table Blender, with a jug that will fit in any of six positions making it easy to use for left and right handed people. The 1.5 litre jug allows large amounts of produce to be processed without constant need to empty.

To finish off the food prep trio is a hand mixer with 10 power settings. The Accents Hand Mixer can mix a large variety of produce to different consistencies, especially with the help of the dough hook attachments. It features 300 watts of power and soft grip handles.

These kitchen appliances will also be available in Australia in February.

Having once had to sit on the washing machine to stop it from bouncing into oblivion, Keri is today delighted with the new (smoother running) technologies that make housework easier every day. A self-confessed lazy-bones, Keri seeks out quirky inventions that ease the human workload, such as the robotic vacuum cleaner (wow). And as soon as someone figures out a Jetsons-like self-cleaning house, she will happily lay her pen to rest and retire from appliance journalism. Until then, her pick is a fridge that will tell her smartphone when it's time to pick up more beer on the way home. Magic.
