Haier’s presence is growing in Australia as it takes on a national sales manager and announces the release of new appliances.

In 2010 Fisher & Paykel took over sales and marketing of Haier in Australia, offering its excellent after sales service as part of the deal. Since then, Haier has been able to concentrate on increasing its distribution and introducing new appliances into Australia.

According to Haier, it will continue to push products across many categories, including higher value products, like its popular French Door Refrigerator.

This year there will be new product launches in the laundry category and later in the year, updated refrigeration models.

Haier’s goal is to raise awareness among the Generation Y consumer, specifically through its Live a Haier Life campaign. Haier also sponsors and is featured in various appliance-related shows.

Attendance at the last Good Food & Wine Show brought the youthful, price-oriented brand to consumers, giving them the opportunity to see and feel the brand first hand, said the company.

“Haier really is going from strength to strength,” said general manager Haier Australia, Richard Bowe. “We’re anticipating continued growth with 2012 set to be Haier’s most successful year in Australia.”

Part of its current expansion includes the newly created role of a national sales manager, Michael Ferguson.

“The creation of this new role reflects our brand’s increasing success and commitment to growth. Michael brings a vast knowledge to this role and his past experience will be of huge benefit for us here at Haier,” said Bowe.

Haier was also recently ranked as one of the more environmentally sound companies in China’s Top 100 Green Companies for 2012.

Having once had to sit on the washing machine to stop it from bouncing into oblivion, Keri is today delighted with the new (smoother running) technologies that make housework easier every day. A self-confessed lazy-bones, Keri seeks out quirky inventions that ease the human workload, such as the robotic vacuum cleaner (wow). And as soon as someone figures out a Jetsons-like self-cleaning house, she will happily lay her pen to rest and retire from appliance journalism. Until then, her pick is a fridge that will tell her smartphone when it's time to pick up more beer on the way home. Magic.
