One of the trans-Tasman’s most popular appliances manufacturers has issued a precautionary warning to its customers regarding several of its single door dishwashers manufactured between 2006 and 2008.

Due to a number of reports of a fault related to the door latch, Fisher & Paykel is asking affected customers to contact the company so that a technician can fit a replacement part free of charge.

Those with conventional dishwasher models DW60CS and DW60CD with serial numbers starting with the letters FA6, FA7 & FA8 will need to contact Fisher & Paykel via its website or by phoning 1300 920 472.

Both the model and serial numbers of the dishwashers can be found on the left hand side of the door panel.

Vice president of corporate planning and investor relations Matt Orr explained that while this fault is likely to impact only a very small number of machines, Fisher & Paykel are moving quickly to eliminate any potential risks.

“Affected dishwashers can continue to be used until the new part is replaced so long as an adult is present until the completion of the cycle,” he said today (August 15).

“However, we advise against overnight use before the part is installed. We are also advising customers to monitor for leaks, and not to use the dishwasher if there is excessive water on the handle, or any smoke or smell is detected.”

Mr Orr added that Fisher & Paykel technicians can easily install this part without removing the machine, and customers can be reassured the replacement part will bring their machines up to the current standard.
