Appliance squabble leads to stabbing

Appliance News Laundry

A row over a washing machine and a dryer has put a North American woman in hospital after being stabbed in the back.

The report in Longview’s local rag said that the victim had visited a friend for “dinner and drinks” on Tuesday night. By 2am a fight broke out between the two middle aged women over ownership of the laundry appliances.

It ended with one woman using a kitchen knife to stab the other in the back.

“There was a scuffle,” the police said. “The suspect ended up getting a knife and stabbing the woman in the back.”

The victim was admitted to hospital where she was treated and later released.

Meanwhile, the other woman has been arrested on suspicions of second-degree assault and her bail has been set at $50,000.

Only in America?

While some might say, ‘only in America’, a recent dinner conversation about appliances has made me reconsider how passionate people are about their homeware.

During an otherwise amenable conversation the subject turned to the matter of induction cooktops versus gas cooktops.

In a country where many consider themselves home Master Chefs, each person at the table felt that their opinion was, of course, unquestionably correct.

While one regaled the table with tales of perfect wok fried food thanks to the extreme heat and precision of an induction cooktop, the other batted back with: “Induction? For God’s sake, name one famous chef that doesn’t use gas, go on.”

Fortunately the dinner table etiquette on this particular night ensured that the only daggers thrown were those with eyes.

Sofia loves to keep things clean. Vacuum cleaners, giant washing machines and jumbo dishwashers hum away in her abode daily. Obsessive? Maybe. Passionate about appliances? For sure! She has been writing about appliance trends and happenings since 2010.
