A coffee machine to suit Bond, James Bond
May 8th, 2012
Keen coffee lovers can be a particular bunch, if not peculiar.
With tastes and requests so specific it’s no wonder Philips Saeco has taken this on to develop an espresso machine as unique as a fingerprint.
The Philips Saeco Xelsius with digital ID actually uses fingerprint recognition technology to determine who the drinker is before it prepares coffee exactly how they like it, from bean to cup.
Perhaps James would like a cup of half strength decaf, soy if you please, shaken, not stirred?
Six different people can enter their unique coffee profile linked to their fingerprints and up to nine different coffees can be entered under each person’s profile.
How specific?
Blend and coffee length, intensity, temperature, crema and body structure can all be adjusted. What’s more, initial requests can be changed again as the cup is being poured, with a patented brewing system to that alters the crema and body structure as it flows into the cup.
And that’s just the coffee, next is the milk.
An “intelligent milk froth adjustment system” allows users to precisely choose how much froth they would like, if at all.
Here’s what Malcolm Russell from Saeco Australia has to say about the machine:
Philips Saeco has worked tirelessly to develop coffee machines that meet the needs of Australia’s discerning coffee drinkers. Now, this includes the ability to create a customised, café-quality beverage with ease.
The Xelsis Digital ID your favourite coffee is, quite literally, at your fingertips.
