Seniors website YOURLifeChoices has announced the results of its latest survey, awarding a number of Australian companies for their “grey” appeal.

The 2012 50Plus Most Trusted Brands survey looked to recognise Australian companies across categories such as health, travel and technology who are going above and beyond to cater to those in their 50s, 60s and beyond.

Among the winners, LG took out the top spot in the whitegoods category ahead of Westinghouse and Simpson.

Appliances Online expert Colin Jones believes that easy-to-use appliances and brand loyalty are among the deciding factors when it comes to manufacturers rising above their competitors.

“I think LG have tapped into the over 50s market very well, thanks to some simple features and innovative technology,” he said.

“All consumers have to do is turn a dial or press a button and walk away. It’s effortless.”

LG corporate marketing manager Fiona Irving believes that it is an ethos of making jobs around the home easier with intuitive innovation and design that saw the brand awarded the top accolade.

“LG is a well-known, reputable brand that blends technology with an understanding of how consumers live their lives,” she told Appliances Online yesterday (October 15).

“This important blend delivers products that are easy to use, perform the job and are reliable – it’s this combination which creates trust.”

The survey results also showed that more and more older Australians were utilising smartphones and online retailers to make their purchases.

Almost 90 per cent of respondents now conduct research online prior to making a purchase.

And although she is adamant she does not say 'fush and chups', she can't deny her continuous use of the term 'sweet as' and her ongoing argument with her team on the correct name for jandals (thongs). One thing is for certain, however, her passion for her kiwi slang is matched with her love for sharing news, hacks and buying tips for all things appliances! Krissy's favourite appliance is the Tefal Cook4Me multi cooker, as she believes it's ok to let an appliance do all the work for you.
