Appliances Online Sailing Team

Appliances Online is proud to be involved in the great sport of sailing. Sailing is an Olympic sport and has a huge local and international following. Being market leaders we like to support the best Australian sailors in the best boats. The Appliances Online sailing team is made up of several different types of boats. Our team includes an 18 Foot Skiff, 2 International Moth's, a 29er skiff and a Mumm 30 yacht.

18 Foot Skiff:

18 Foot Skiffs are the fastest single hull sailing boats in the world as well as the most challenging boats to sail. Appliances Online sponsored a team for 2 seasons and we just resigned on for a third. These high powered boats attract some of the best sailors in the world and it is a privilege for Appliances Online to be involved in such a professional and demanding class of boat as the 18 foot skiffs. 2007 was a very successful season for the team finishing 5th in the 18's JJ Giltinan World Championships sailed on Sydney Harbour and 5th in the Intedominion Championships sailed on Auckland Harbour. These two results were two major highlights in an action packed season and was an improvement on the teams 9th place in the 2006 JJ Giltinan World Championships. The current crew has decided to take some time off after 2 grueling years of competition so we have some new blood stepping on board for the 2007/08 18 footer season.

International Moth:

Moths are the most amazing little class of boats going around. These “rockets” sail with foils making the boats literally fly. These boats are sailed by very agile, athletic sailors. Appliances Online sponsor two Moths. We are the Major Sponsor of Scott Babbage who recently finished 2nd in the 2007 Moth World's sailed on Lake Garda in Italy and our other boat who we are a supporter of sailed by John Harris finished 8th. This is a fantastic result for the two members of the Appliances Online sailing team and we are hoping for a 1, 2 finish in the 2008 Moth world's to be sailed in the UK.

29er Skiff:

Appliances Online have a long association with the 29er skiff fleet and have won two 29er world championships. The 29er is a smaller version of the 49er skiff which is an Olympic class of boat. Our first 29er championship was won on Sydney Harbour a few years ago with a team led by current Australian Olympic coach Euan Mcnicol. Our latest Success was in the UK when Scott Babbage's team was crowned 29er World Champions in 2006.

Mumm 30:

This is our first time sponsoring a Yacht. The Mumm 30 is a highly competitive international class of sailing boat. The M30 fleet is developing quickly with a National fleet of 30 boats and Sydney Harbour racing each weekend over Summer as part of Division 1 out of Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron. The M30 National regatta this year is on Sydney Harbour in January 2008, and the heavily patronized World Titles are likely to also be in Sydney in 2009, making our support of Yandoo M30 very timely.

Yandoo has taken the early lead in the 2007/8 Division 1 points score and we are proud to be able to support the M30 team to reach their goals.

Our sailing team is just part of Appliances Online's commitment to the community. We look forward to following the progress of our sailing team as they gear up for the 2007/08 season. Be sure to keep an eye out for our updates on the team's progress throughout this sailing season via our newsletter.
