Business Extended Warranty For Appliances

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

We find that companies & businesses are often purchasing appliances for their work place for staff to use, whether it is the common fridge, freezer, washer, dryer or coffee machine all come with some sort of warranty. In most cases for domestic use this warranty is 1 to 2 years warranty which covers you for all parts & labour that’s true in the sense that this product is being used in a single dwelling domestic residence, not commercial or office use.

When a company or business purchases a product which has not been manufactured for commercial use the warranty changes, all manufacturers will change the domestic warranty to commercial warranty, the length of the commercial warranty for a domestic product will be from zero warranty to three months at best.

Appliances Online as will most retailers now offer a business extended warranty which offers 3 years (in the case of Appliances Online) or in other cases up to 3 years for a small charge. This allows peace of mind when the appliances is being used by numerous people frequently who in many cases will not treat it as their own.

Removing Moisture In A Room With Dehumidifiers

Monday, May 4th, 2009

With the wet season approaching or already arrived moisture in homes and offices is a big problem, how do you fix it? The answer is with a dehumidifier. Dehumidifiers reduce the level of humidity in the air reducing mould and mildew and reducing health risks. Dehumidifiers work in a similar way to air conditioners and are usually smallish and portable to move from room to room. The noise from dehumidifiers is also similar to most air conditioners or if not quieter. The water collected goes into a collection bucket which is easily emptied when full, some models come with a continuous drain option for convenience. Most domestic dehumidifiers have a capacity to remove up the 20 litres per day. Some people use dehumidifiers to dry clothes in a drying room giving the user 2 uses.

Washing Machine Spin Speed

Friday, May 1st, 2009

What does the spin speed do and what is a good spin speed in a front load washer? We often get asked this question so I thought we should explain.

What is the spin speed?

After your clothes have been washed in the front load washing machine they are very wet and the washing machine will empty the water and the tub will spin around very fast to “wring” the water out of the clothes and thus the clothes will have to spend less time on the clothes line or in the dryer. The faster the spin speed the drier the clothes.

What spin speed do you need?

A good spin speed will vary on the type of washing you have in the machine (eg Cotton, synthetic, wool). The washing machine will have a default spin speed for the type of clothes (and program you have chosen). Wool will require a slower spin speed (around 600-800rpm), synthetic will need around 800-1000 rpm and cotton will need 900-1400rpm.

Sometimes a higher spin speed is not always the best as it can crease cotton business shirts and that means longer ironing time for you. However for general washing of towels, sheets and casual wear generally the faster the better as it reduces your drying time.

LG New Dishwasher For Larger Plates LD1420TI

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

LG has relaesed a new dishwasher the LD1420TI which is unique as it has a direct drive motor which is fitted vertically rather than horizontally. The new dishwasher gives more room for larger plates, crockery and serving dishes. Like other dishwashers it has a flexible basket system with adjustable racks for even more height. LG believe the direct drive motor used to be more reliable as it uses less moving parts reducing wear and tear. Yet another feature is the UV lamp which comes on during the wash and drying cycle to reduce bacteria. The LD1420TI has 14 place settings Vario wash system, Hybrid drying system, half load option is 4 star water rated using 13.9 litres. Recommended retail is $1449

Frost Free Chest Freezers!

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Chest freezers are great for storing larger items which won’t fit inside a normal freezer or if you like to store large amounts meat or bait away for a long period of time. A lot of people often ask if chest freezers are frost free or if any chest freezers are frost free.

Chest freezers are not frost free but do not collect a lot of frost and have a defrost drain system, where by once every 18 months or so you just unpack the freezer turn the freezer off and all the excess frost will drain out the drain hole at the bottom of the freezer. All this is very easy and would take no more than an hour or so!

Vacuums do I need a bag or bagless model?

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Bagless VS Bagged Vacuum cleaners

These days there are two different types of vacuum cleaners, bagged and bagless.

What is the difference?

Bagged Vacuums use disposable bags that need to be replaced when full. The bags work as filters allowing air to flow through the bags pours trapping the dirt and dust particles. Bagless vacuums have a chamber that catches the dirt and dust, without reducing the suction.

Bagged Vacuum Cleaners

Bagged Vacuum cleaners need the bags changed when they become full, most older models you need to check the bag yourself. Some of the new models now have indicator lights to tell you the bag is full. Changing the bag is a very easy process and vacuum bags are cheap, just take out the full one through it away and insert the new one. Bagged vacuum cleaners have a reputation of being better for health and allergies as they trap more dust particles (this may not be the case with some better known bagless vacuums).

Bagless Vacuum Cleaners

Bagless vacuum cleaners still need to be emptied when full, all you have to do is empty the chamber and close the lid then you are ready to start vacuuming again. One thing to remember with bagless vacuums is that many models need the filter to be replaced or cleaned and fully dried (this is not the case with all bagless models).

When choosing a vacuum cleaner to buy whether it be bagged or bagless I suggest you evaluate the kind of vacuuming you need to do. Ask yourself the following questions.
* How much vacuuming will I be doing on hard floors or carpets?
* Do I have pets that molt?
* Do I need a motor head (better for picking up pet hair)?
* Do I have allergies?
* Do I require a hepa filter (better for allergies)?
* How big is my storage space for the vacuum (does it need to be compact)?

Are rangehoods a waste of money?

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

Ever been into a Fish & Chip Shop & not seen any sort of extraction hood above the cooking! I don’t think so. The idea of your rangehood when ducted outside is to take all the odours and smoke and duct them to the outside, whilst passing through your filters the fat from your cooking will get trapped. To keep your rangehood working efficiently be sure to keep your filters clean by washing them in hot soapy water, your cooking style will determine how often you wash your filters.

When you purchase your rangehood make sure that it suits your style of cooking for example if you use a lot of oils & spice you may create quite a bit of smoke and a basic rangehood with a small airflow in most cases will not remove the smoke and smell effectively, oil will build up on the underside & front of your cupboards. This is why when you purchase your rangehood you should look at the quality, style, shape and how noisey the rangehood is. There is no use having a Rolls Royce Kitchen and a Mini Moke Rangehood, your cooktop and rangehood should work together.

BBQ Rangehood’s

There are different models and shapes to suit all kitchen designs even Rangehoods to suit BBQ’s these rangehoods have extremely large airflow due to the amount of smoke and heat coming from the large gas burners, a domestic internal kitchen rangehood should not be used as a BBQ Rangehood as they do not have the power to exhaust smoke or handle the extra heat put off by the BBQ. Kitchen rangehoods are also a standard 500mm in depth, if your BBQ has a hood over the BBQ this will push the overall depth of your BBQ an extra 200mm in overall depth being 700mm and a normal rangehood will not cover your cooking area. Most BBQ rangehoods are 650mm to 800mm in depth this way it covers your cooking area and will have large are movements. A common question asked is what height should my rangehood be installed over the cooking area, BBQ Rangehoods should be installed no less then 1 metre above your cooking surface, this is due to flare up’s caused by oils and fats dripping down over the exposed gas fire. Internal domestic Kitchen rangehoods if installed over gas cooktops should be between 650mm - 750mm from the top of the cooktop to the bottom of the rangehood and internal domestic Kitchen rangehoods if installed over Electric cooktops should be between 600mm - 650mm from the top of the cooktop to the bottom of the rangehood.
