 My older model Breville breadmaker (BBM200?) failed on Christmas Eve 2011, after many, many years faithful service (I bake all our bread at home) and I chose this as its replacement because a) I was well pleased with my older Breville breadmaker, b) it allows for a much larger, horizontal loaf size and c) it has an additional full range of manual settings so I could do all my specialty recipes outside the range of the standard machine-made breads. I first tried one of my usual recipes and walked off & left it to run. The result was a very well risen loaf, with good texture, but slightly misshapen on top and perhaps needing 10 minutes more to cook. A bit disappointed that even when the blade collapses during the cooking cycle, it still does leave a significant hole (though not as deep as otherwise). Next I did the Breville recipe for Continental Bread & it turned out perfectly, so I'd expect that all the other recipes provided will have been well tested by Breville. I've also done a pre-mix dark rye, and a mixed grain 'dough only' for baking in my own tins, and all worked to the standard I'd hoped for. However, having seen some poor reviews of this model, I'd suggest that purchasers should have some prior understanding of breadmaking. It sounds like those who achieved poor results have not paid close attention to the required consistency of the dough. Because all flours and ingredients are not the same, it may be best to weigh ingredients (rather than go by volume) and it's useful to make an assessment of the dough after the first knead and to add more flour or liquid if required. And to get a loaf with no blade-hole in the bottom, I simply take out the dough immediately prior to the final rise, remove the blade altogether, then replace the shaped dough into the bucket! I'm rating this as 'good' rather than excellent, only because it takes a little knowledge & occasional intervention to get the best results.

I have to say that the oven looks really good at first. It functions quite good, the LCD is also helpful, the price is quite high compared to other alternatives. However the product gets dirty very easily, outside and inside and the insulation of the front door is not that good (no double glazing and it gets hot near it).

I like this machine. It's simple to operate once you summon your inner barista (and watch a few youtube clips). Breville recommends that you use supermarket bought pre-ground coffee, but I found the grind too coarse to make a decent brew. I grind my own beans and the coffee is far better. It's pretty easy to keep clean with instructions and all the tools provided. Probably not ideal if you're trying to make coffee for more than 2 people - it would be a slow process. I recommend this machine if you want a straightforward, reasonably priced coffee machine.

When I first turned it on, it started to smoke from the base but after a few minutes it stopped, and it works perfectly since. Almost like there was something that needed to burn out first like a bit of fluid or tape or something. All good now though, works beautifully.

This is the second time I've used Appliances Online for large white-goods items; I returned because I was very happy with the service the first time. I could have got the products a little cheaper at one of the bricks & mortar Melboune stores during the January Sales, but I'd rather support an online Australian store, who also gives the option of using PayPal. The email & telephone communication re delivery arrangements was excellent, and the 2 delivery drivers unpacked the fridge & the freezer and put them into position.

A I have contacted Breville in regards to the steamer you were looking at. They have stated that the steamer is made from a PVC polycarbonate, and that it has been FDA approved. This is all the information the sales staff I spoke to had in regards to the BFS600's plastic. Hope this helps!
