Here are a few pieces of inspiration to get you started:

Home remedies

While there’s no true substitute for a bit of hard work and elbow grease when it comes to cleaning, there are also many different secrets for making your house cleaning that little bit easier and less stressful.

elbow grease

A number of common household substances are understood to have cleansing properties unmatched by anything you can buy from the supermarket cleaning aisle.

white wine

White wine, lemon juice, baking soda, salt, good old-fashioned water… all of these can prove quite handy for getting rid of different types of messes and stains in the home, when applied correctly.

clean an oven with vinegar

My personal favourite – vinegar.  This stuff seems to be able to clean anything.  I’ve seen it get out wine stains and get rid of the stink of cat pee. It can help you clean a suit and even scare off fleas.

It can also substitute for rinse aid in your dishwasher or fabric softener in your washing machine, and if you need to disinfect and deodorise your fridge, look no further!

Better cleaning through appliances

In addition to these home remedies, there are more than a few different high-tech cleaning solutions out there.  After all, nothing cleans quite like a dedicated cleaning appliance.

Some of the best cleaning appliances come from Bissell, an American manufacturer that’s been dedicated solely to the floorcare business since its foundation in 1883.

bissell carpet cleaner

Getting your carpets looking spotless and better than new can be managed by spending some time with a Bissell Carpet Washer, which uses shampoo and water to clean the ground-in dirt that your vacuuming may have missed.

For smaller-scale carpet cleaning, a Bissell Spot Cleaner should do the trick, able to power through the little accidents on your rugs while remaining portable and easy to store.

As for hard surfaces, nooks and crannies, you can use a Bissell steam cleaner or steam mop, which we put to the test cleaning everything from tiles to cooktops.
