What is a wine storage cabinet?

A wine storage cabinet provides a temperature-controlled environment for the correct storage of fine wine.

Unlike an ordinary bar fridge, a Vintec wine cabinet is designed specifically to keep your wine in pristine condition:

1. Temperature

The correct storage temperature for all types of wine is 12°C-14°C.

2. Light

UV rays can damage wine, which is why it’s important to store it in a dark location.

3. Vibrations

Just in the same way that you can bruise fruit by dropping it, vibrations, no matter how slight, can ruin your wine. This is why normal fridges aren’t good for wine storage, as the motor causes the shelves to vibrate slightly.

4. Humidity

If you’re storing corked wine, you’ll need to store it in an environment with humidity above 50% – otherwise the cork could dry up.

5. Airflow

Also important for corked wine, there needs to be a fair amount of airflow to prevent the cork from becoming mouldy.
