Help, I’m bloated & overstuffed! Your guide to detoxing after overindulging
November 6th, 2015
The kid’s sweets bag on Halloween. Not two, but three servings of roast chicken on Christmas. And what about all those chocolate bunnies on Easter?
Yep, we’ve all been there, and why not? A holiday is a holiday, and it’s OK to overfeed ourselves sometimes.
But what happens when reality smacks us on the belly, it’s the day after, and you feel all bloated and gross from feeding your inner child with all that cream pavlova?
Besides wanting to run back to bed to hide under the blankets, hoping this nauseating feeling goes away, our bodies are also screaming out, “Get all this bad stuff out of me!”
detox
informal
verb
gerund or present participle: detoxing
diːˈtɒks/
abstain from or rid the body of toxic or unhealthy substances.
“he checked into a hospital to detox”
And even though Christmas chicken or Halloween pumpkin pot pie aren’t normally considered ‘toxic’ or an ‘unhealthy substance’, large quantities of these ‘holiday foods’ can take a toll on our bodies. Detoxing the day after celebrations will help you feel less bloated, as well as help get you back on track to your normal life.

Cleansing Detox Drinks
Morning lemon detox water
As soon as you wake up, make yourself some ‘simple morning detox water’. Simply squeeze half a lemon, or use a few squirts of store-bought lemon juice (This can usually be found in the seafood section, or baking section of your local supermarket) into a tall glass of water. I usually put lemon juice into a small bottle of water the night before, and keep it on my bedside table. This ensures I drink my detox water every day.
Not only will drinking this every morning help flush out those nasty toxins, it will also get your metabolism working.
