Breeze into summer with a Kelvinator air conditioner
October 17th, 2011
How many of us have spent many a summer night tossing and turning because it’s too hot to sleep? I for one did not sleep for the majority of February last year, and the results were far from pretty. This is because I, like so many people, mistakenly believed that an air conditioner would be a) too expensive to run, and b) bad for the environment. But as it turns out my misconceptions turned out to be exactly that – misconceptions. Which is great because now I can welcome summer with open arms, rather than fearing it as I would an exploding volcano.
Last week Naomi from Kelvinator visited the Appliances Online office to show us how far air conditioning technology has evolved in the last few years.
First of all, Naomi explained how Kelvinator was founded right here in Australia over 90 years ago, and today it continues to manufacture cooling appliances specially designed to suit the harsh Australian climate.
Secondly, I was very impressed to discover that a Kelvinator 2.6kW Reverse Cycle Split System Inverter Air Conditioner costs only around 14.5 cents per hour to cool a room measuring 25m2. (Based on an electricity cost of 19.95c/kWh).
This shouldn’t be surprising considering how energy efficient split system air conditioners have become in recent times. For example, the Kelvinator KSV26HRC model has a 3.5 star energy rating, which makes it more energy efficient than most fridges.
The less energy consumed, the better for the environment. And installing an inverter air conditioner is certainly a more environmentally-friendly solution than driving around in your car in the middle of the night because it’s the only thing you own that has air conditioning. …Not that anyone in their right mind would do that of course.*
If you or anyone in your home happens to suffer from allergies or asthma, some Kelvinator air conditioners can actually remove impurities from the air (such as dust, smoke and pet hair) using BioFresh® filter technology.
Plus the ‘sleep mode’ function is designed to give you the most comfortable night’s sleep possible. No more counting sheep on a hot night – which is not a mental image you want anyway when the mere thought of wool is enough to cause you to break out in a violent rash.
For comfort all year round, choose a reverse cycle system that offers heating as well as cooling.
Not sure which model is right for your needs? No problems. Give our customer service team a call on 1300 000 500 and we will do the maths for you based on how large and well insulated your room is.
So thanks once again to Naomi for an informative and enjoyable presentation, and enjoy the warmer weather as we approach the festive season!
*Actual true story. Don’t judge me! It was a VERY hot summer.
They are great until they stop working (mine at less than 2 years old so still under warranty). 3 months I have been waiting for it to be fixed, most of that was during winter. Electrolux (the parent company) left my family to freeze in below 0 temperatures in an effort to cut costs on repairs – I’m sorry but not good enough.
