I love hot chips. They’re crispy, salty, golden, cheerful and delicious. What’s not to love?

…Oh yes, that’s right. The high fat content. Boo!

Like most things in life that are enjoyable, hot chips can be bad for your health.

But before you relegate yourself to a life of brown rice, bean sprouts and All Bran, take a look at this baby:

New to Appliances Online, it’s the Tefal ActiFry, and it can cook a kilo of chips using only 1 spoonful of oil.

Chips made in the ActiFry contain only 3% fat – which is remarkable considering that chips from the takeaway shop contain around 15% (16% if they’re from McDonalds).

I hear what you’re thinking. They probably taste crap, right?

Doubt not! I have personally tasted these chips, and I’m here to tell you that they are 100% delicious. See for yourself:

Soft in the middle yet crisp on the outside – perfect!

Developed in France, the Tefal ActiFry is fully automatic – simply load it with freshly cut potatoes, add a drizzle of oil, and away you go. Plus the non-stick surface of the pan makes it incredibly easy to clean.

Potatoes contain:

•    As much fibre as a cup of brown rice
•    Fewer calories than a cup of white rice
•    As much magnesium as 20 hazelnuts
•    Two times more potassium than a banana
•    More iron than a cup of spinach

Not just for chips, the ActiFry can be used to cook other things too! It comes with a 160 page ‘Taste of the World’ cookbook which includes recipes for risotto, schnitzel, bolognaise, sweet and sour pork, fried rice, meatballs and even some desserts.

And here’s a tip for parents of fussy eaters: simply cut carrots, sweet potato, pumpkin or parsnips into chip shapes, whack them in the ActiFry, and tell them they’re “colourful chips.”

The ActiFry is now available at Appliances Online alongside a range of other innovative Tefal products.

Here is chef Ming Tsai demonstrating how to make Thai Beef Larb in the Tefal ActiFry:
