Meet the founders of Appliances Online

Friends since childhood (they grew up two doors down the road from each other), John Winning and Peter Harris have seen Appliances Online grow from a small start-up located in the back of a warehouse, to a thriving company with warehouses located all over Australia.
“Back in the early days it was a lot of fun, and a lot less pressure,” says John. “Seven years ago we had glimpses of the business’s potential, and we wanted it to be big – but I don’t think we ever envisioned it would get the point of having interstate warehouses and over 150 staff.”
But even though things have changed a lot since the days when all they had was a laptop, a rented truck and a 1300 number diverted to a mobile phone, Pete and John still find the time in every day to have a laugh. “We try to find the lighter side of every situation,” says Pete. “We encourage our staff to have a joke and a laugh, and we hold regular social events like ping pong championships and barbeques.”
“Hopefully in another seven years we can look back with amazement at how much the business has grown and evolved. We’re very excited about the future – we’re still ambitious and keen to provide the best shopping experience in the world.”
