Washing machine explodes to the music of Autechre

Appliance Talk Humour

When you’ve been in the appliance biz as long as I have, you reach a point where it takes a lot to impress you.

A replica of Stonehenge made out of fridges?

Yawn.

A washing machine that launders your brain?

That was SO three weeks ago.

Snakes… on a dishwasher?

THAT’S SO BORING I’M SO BORED PLEASE BE QUIET OMG ZZZZZZ

Truly, I thought I’d seen just about everything that falls into the category of ‘weird stuff involving appliances’.

That was, until I saw a video of a washing machine exploding to the music of experimental electronica act Autechre:

Information about this video is hard to come by – it is, as they say, what it is. Which is, a video of an exploding washing machine set to the music of Autechre.

Stay tuned for future blog posts on the subject of appliances being destroyed in the name of music, where we look at Norwegian band Hurra Torpedo:

Louise is a writer with a passion for appliances, especially those that involve food. She is particularly fond of ovens because they enable her to make cake. Apart from baking Louise also enjoys listening to alternative music, dying her hair various unnatural colours and writing poetry that has been described (by her Nan) as 'quite nice'. On her appliance wish list is a Hello Kitty toaster and 'Hero' the barking dog-shaped hot dog maker. She lives in Sydney. Google+

  1. DragonGirl says:

part of me wants to ask why, but then another part of me thinks the better question would be WHY NOT! Also, is that washing machine one in real time do you think?

  2. I think the video’s been edited slightly, but otherwise I think it depicts a real event! I actually found it kind of hard to watch – cos it looks to me like the washer is dying. But maybe that’s just because I’ve spent so long in this industry I now have empathy for appliances. Anyway, yay!
