Appliance love epic: part one

Appliance Talk

Of all the tragedies ever told

There is none more sad nor chronic,

In legends new or those of old

Than that of Rinnai and Bromic.

The lusty passion between the two

Heated kingdoms far and wide,

And no happier was the day

When Bromic asked Rinnai to be his bride.

But lo! Receival of this news

Sent Omega into a spin,

The angry God frothed, his cycle stopped

For Rinnai’s heart should belong to him.

A Whirlpool of warriors, St George at the lead

Gathered to Omega’s side,

“Bromic’s element is what I need, take it from him, make him bleed!

Go and seek out where he hides.”

“Take my herd of Husky‘s, past Volta and Lemair

to the land of BeeFeater and in the lover’s lair,

Kill Bromic, bring to me Rinnai

At dawn’s first light he will die!”

These words were heard by all the troops

Who busted out sword and metal

But also fell on the ears of an unassuming snoop

Cousin of Bromic, Morphy Kettle…

Legs locked and dials high our heroes lie unaware

Their friend Samsung sings around the campfire,

Yet Haier flys Morphy to warn the pair

Of what awaits them, bloodshed and despair.

Read part two.

By Imogen Throp with Keri Algar

Having once had to sit on the washing machine to stop it from bouncing into oblivion, Keri is today delighted with the new (smoother running) technologies that make housework easier every day. A self-confessed lazy-bones, Keri seeks out quirky inventions that ease the human workload, such as the robotic vacuum cleaner (wow). And as soon as someone figures out a Jetsons-like self-cleaning house, she will happily lay her pen to rest and retire from appliance journalism. Until then, her pick is a fridge that will tell her smartphone when it's time to pick up more beer on the way home. Magic.
