Appliances Online and Electrolux are joining forces to help the charity 1 Million Women take action against climate change with a competition that puts four environmentally-friendly fridges up for grabs.

1 Million Women is an organisation dedicated to helping Australian women live more sustainably on a daily-basis – each member taking on the challenge of cutting one tonne of carbon pollution from their lives over 12 months. Appliances Online and Electrolux are proud to help them spread their message.

Competition details

Entering this competition is a cinch: first, you need to join the Appliances Online Facebook page. From there, come up with 25 words (or less), explaining how you plan to reduce your carbon impact.

Your prize? Just one of four very, very cool Electrolux fridges – each to be handed out to a lucky household, one per each week of July.

Your prize

The fridge – the Electrolux ETM4200SC – is, appropriately, one of the most green-friendly appliances out there.

Not only does it deliver an excellent 4-star energy rating, it also uses the refrigerant 5600a, which has a lower global warming potential than that used in conventional fridges.

Added to that, Electrolux have outfitted it with a humidity control which creates the ideal conditions for produce to stay fresh for longer – which means your home will be generating less food waste.

Updating your appliance to save energy

The competition puts sustainable appliances into the spotlight, while also emphasising the energy-saving benefits of updating your old appliance.  If your fridge is an old warhorse that groans, shakes and rattles – then it’s likely to be having an adverse impact both on your wallet and the planet.

As John Winning CEO of Appliances Online explains, “Many Australians aren’t aware that older fridges are one of the worst energy-wasting appliances commonly found in our homes and can dramatically run up your electricity bills – consuming up to three times the energy of new fridges.”

The Mission

Both companies share with 1 Million Women a commitment to a green future, with a focus on sustainable technologies and practices.

Ryan Lilley, Key Account Executive at Electrolux, says, “We’re constantly striving to produce appliances that are more intuitive and energy efficient.”

Education is also a key tenet of the commitment, with Appliances Online’s customer support team providing professional, unbiased advice on everything from the energy rating star system to tips on how to change the way to use appliances in order to save electricity.

Nathalie Isaacs, founder and CEO of 1 Million says: “We’re thrilled Appliances Online and Electrolux have come on board to help Australians gain the right knowledge to cut their energy consumption.”
