Miele cleans up in dishwasher survey

Miele has managed the most satisfied consumer award ahead of seven other dishwasher brands with almost a clean sweep across every category in the latest Canstar Blue dishwasher survey.
The survey pitched top brands Miele, Bosch, LG, Fisher & Paykel, Westinghouse, Electrolux, Dishlex and Whirlpool against each other for performance, value for money, reliability, noise while operating, internal layout of drawers, warranty and service, and overall satisfaction.
Miele scored five out of five stars across all categories bar value for money. German rival Bosch followed close behind and trumped Miele for value for money.
Westinghouse, Fisher & Paykel and LG performed admirably for performance and internal layout while Dishlex, Electrolux and Whirlpool achieved satisfactory results across the board.
The survey also brought to light how handy people are with dishwasher maintenance.
“Another interesting highlight of the survey was the fact that 30 per cent of respondents weren’t aware of how to perform basic maintenance of their dishwasher to ensure it operates at its best,” said Canstar Blue manager Rebecca Logan.
“We’d encourage consumers to familiarise themselves with their user manual to learn how to take good care of their dishwashers to reduce servicing costs.”
Over 75 per cent of Queensland and Victorian respondents were handy with basic dishwasher maintenance, while only two thirds of New South Welshmen were comfortable fixing things themselves.
Almost a third of respondents said that they purchased an extra warranty when buying a dishwasher.
We also found that 74 per cent of female respondents believed they were best in the household at loading their dishwasher when compared to 68 per cent of males.
The ratings are determined by consumers who have bought a dishwasher in the last three years; the results were revealed today.
