Just when you thought the number of doors offered with your fridge couldn’t increase any more, Korean brand LG is bringing the first full door-in-door variety to the Australian market from next month.

The technology sees a specially designed dual access system added, allowing customers to conveniently store their most popular chilled items behind a unique panel in the front door.

The latest range of LG fridges focuses on three key areas – access, capacity and design – and all three models deliver on these aspects.

The hero product is the GR-D907SL 907-litre French Door Fridge and boasts more than 100 litres more than any other French Door model on the market.

Measuring at just 908 mm and offering an internal width of 832 mm, the 907-litre French Door Fridge includes a slim icemaker in the door and a temperature-controlled pantry drawer – which can be adjusted from between -1 degrees Celsius to 3 degrees Celsius, depending on whether meat, dairy or vegetables are being stored.

According to Corporate Marketing Manager for LG Australia Fiona Irving, the new technology is set to revolutionise Australian households.

“Customers can put their favourite food and beverage items in the Door-in-Door compartment and easily take them out without opening the entire refrigerator door,” she said today.

We sat down with brand ambassador and Australian actress Georgie Parker, who believes that families with working parents could be among those to benefit most from the new LG products.

“You go to work [and] you don’t want to have to come home and then think about how to use a fridge, you don’t want to have to constantly reorganise it so that you can see everything and know where everything is and prioritising things in order of when it’s going to go off.

“With a fridge like this, it will make it much easier to prioritise, to actually see what you’ve got and because it’s a pleasure to use, I think you’ll actually spend more time organising your fridge in a user-friendly way.”

The new LG Door-in-Door refrigerator range will launch between September and November 2012.
