The World’s “largest and most important” trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances is taking place in Berlin this weekend.

IFA 2012 features hundreds of global brands displaying new technology and innovative products for the consumer market.

Much of the talk is about latest trends and designs as the industry prepares itself for the rush of Christmas sales.

Organisers hope the event will be a “resounding success” by engaging directly with customers and add stimulus for the markets.

Innovation at IFA

Dr. Christian Göke, Chief Operating Officer of Messe Berlin, where the show is being held, said: “IFA continues to expand. For the industry and the trade this is the ideal time of the year to prepare for the Christmas period of peak business.

“More than ever before the industry has decided to focus on presenting its innovations and product debuts at IFA.”

The IFA Home Appliances sections features large household appliances, small electric domestic appliances, build-in kitchen units, and Electric domestic heating systems.

Leading Home Appliance companies such as Siemens, Miele, Electrolux, Bosch, and AEG are presenting their new products throughout the next week.

Much of the focus is around reflecting lifestyle trends such as healthy cooking, wellness, the efficient use of energy and intelligent technology, all alongside excellent design.

Indispensable platform

Experts are predicting the world market for large-scale home appliances to grow by 178 billion dollars, an increase of 8 per cent.

Dr. Reinhard Zinkann, Chairman of the Consumer Electronics Trade Association ZVEI, said: “As the world’s most important event IFA furthers this growth.

“IFA has developed into an indispensable and global platform for the home appliances industry to exhibit its products.”
