A new kettle bearing an unfortunate resemblance to Adolf Hitler is causing blood to boil in America. Retailers JC Penney compounded their faux pas by choosing to display the pseudo-fascist appliance on one of their gigantic billboards.

The billboard featuring the offensive kettle was positioned on the 405 Interstate Highway, Calfornia – a fairly busy road in the States …

In case you don’t see it: look for the distinctive Hitler hair-do-shape evident in the handle, the ghost of a Charlie-Chaplin-moustache indicated by the knob on top … and, apparently, the spout resembles a Nazi salute.

Word that the Fuhrer had a stainless steel tea-making doppelgänger first popped up on social news site Reddit. Images of the kettle subsequently went viral and the appliance sold-out online. JC Penney haven’t commented on the issue – but the billboard has apparently been removed.

It got us thinking about other appliances that look like people – especially notable ones (we hesitate to call Hitler a “celebrity”). Here’s a few we came up with:
