In a vast complex of exhibition halls, leading brands from across the world are showcasing the key developments in every aspect of electrical home appliances.
Thousands of people are expected to explore the matrix of displays, which aim to revolutionise the way domestic chores are carried out.
So here’s a brief guide to what’s trending at IFA 2012.
Easier lifestyle
Simplified, ergonomic controls with pre-set functions on washing machines, dishwashers, and ovens form the basis for diversity and reliability, condensing tasks to just the touch of a button.
Healthy eating
Induction hotplates, high speed ovens with numerous combinations of functions and cooking programmes or versatile steamers are the perfect “tools” for encouraging home cooking.
Energy efficiency
Developments in energy saving technology continues to be a leading force behind most companies innovation objectives. A high degree of energy efficiency is an absolute must for the latest brand appliances. Refrigerators and fridge/freezer combinations offer better performance while maintaining attractive aesthetics.
Smart systems
Intelligent appliances can allow customers to control start times, durations and temperatures, remotely. Through smart phones and tablets, consumers will be able to manage their home to better coincide with their lifestyle, even if they are miles away.
Stylish design
With all the other factors taken into consideration, consumers still want the products to look good. This has meant companies taking more time to expand the range of colours, materials, and finishes on everything from fridges to cooktops and coffee makers.
IFA organisers said: “Not only do today’s home appliances make life in the home easier and better, they also reflect such lifestyle trends as healthy cooking, wellness, the efficient use of energy and conservation of resources.
“Simple controls, intelligent technology and, of course, excellent design, are the outstanding characteristics of the latest electrical home appliances and small appliances from leading manufacturers.”
