Justin Haver says that he’s not a smart man.

But during the middle of one random night, while using the bathroom no less, the vice president of GoVacuum.com had an idea that ‘struck him like a freight train’….a golden vacuum.

“Eureka! I’m a genius,” writes Haver in his blog. Six months later Haver’s inspired idea has come to fruition in the form of a 24K gold plated vacuum cleaner, the world’s most expensive.

The GV62711 sells in the United States alongside humle competitors such as Miele and Hoover. While the company boasts discounts of up to $800 on some of its vacuum models, the the Golden Vacuum offers a $1 discount, dropping the exorbitant price to $999,999.

Billionaires need only apply.

Jaw dropping price and gold aside, the vacuum is a fully functioning appliance. Haver says it is light, powerful, features a 14-inch cleaning nozzle and a made to order hand-sewn bag.

No, it’s no fool’s gold, either.

“This isn’t a joke or a fake product. We will limit the run to 100, each supplied with their own serial number and certificate of authenticity,” Haver says.

“The vacuums can be engraved for personalisation and are ready for immediate purchase. It’s one of the most expensive home products ever created and we’re delighted to have come up with the idea. I fully anticipate selling them to the world’s wealthiest who simply can.”

To spread the word GoVacuum have produced a rap song. (One wonders how many billionaires listen to appliance-related rap songs on YouTube?)

Having once had to sit on the washing machine to stop it from bouncing into oblivion, Keri is today delighted with the new (smoother running) technologies that make housework easier every day. A self-confessed lazy-bones, Keri seeks out quirky inventions that ease the human workload, such as the robotic vacuum cleaner (wow). And as soon as someone figures out a Jetsons-like self-cleaning house, she will happily lay her pen to rest and retire from appliance journalism. Until then, her pick is a fridge that will tell her smartphone when it's time to pick up more beer on the way home. Magic.
