A It is possible for you to do this however you can run the risk of some condensation dripping onto the carpet and leaving a water mark over time. This is not always going to happen but can happen with any form of refrigerator. The other issue is the carpet blocking air flow under the machine if it is a soft pile. What I would recommend is to place it on a firm base, a flat piece of metal cut to size would be ideal, condensation is not a huge concern however it can happen, and small amounts of water on a piece of metal would evaporate. If it was to fall directly onto carpet you may have problems with mould as the carpet will absorb the moisture.
