PVRs

Appliances Online provides high quality Personal Video Recorders sourced from leading manufacturers such as Bush, Grundig, Humax, Panasonic, Samsung and Sony.

PVRs offer extraordinary capabilities that make them an ideal addition to a home theatre set up. With large hard drive storage capacities, the ability to record one program while simultaneously recording another – plus powerful Smart functionality, the range of PVRs at Appliances Online will enhance your entertainment experience.

PVRs Explained

Personal Video Recorders are able to digitally record content from your TV and store it on a built-in hard drive.

PVR technology is becoming increasingly sophisticated and their capabilities are expanding. Amongst the range at Appliances Online, for instance, you will find options to connect to the internet and manage your recordings more conveniently and efficiently.

The PVR Advantage

Recording to a hard drive gives you a number of advantages. Not only does it mean you don’t have to mess around with tapes, it also delivers a much higher resolution picture quality.

You are also given greater flexibility in a number of ways. Firstly, it gives you the possibility of being able to record more than one program simultaneously. In fact, with a machine with Twin HD Tuners, you can record two programs at the same time while watching a third using the one PVR. And with the hard drive storing a “buffer” of recorded material, you have the ability to pause live television and then return where you left off at your convenience.

PVRs also provide EPGs (or Electronic Program Guides) which will pop up onscreen to display scheduling, program descriptions and more. This makes it easy to watch and set up a recording schedule.

Recording to Blu-ray and DVD

Appliances Online stocks three broad choices of PVR: “stand-alone” hard-drive-only models, and those with either an integrated Blu-ray or DVD Player.

All DVD-integrated PVRs can record content to disc (i.e. DVD) as well as the hard drive. This gives you the advantage of being able to transfer your recordings over if you want to keep them.

Only selected models can currently record content to Blu-ray disc – please check the spec listing for each product.

PVR Smart Capabilities

PVRs can be used for more than just recording: they also have Smart capabilities which will greatly enhance your entertainment experience. Selected PVRs can connect your TV to your home network, letting you share pictures, music, videos and more via compatible devices.

Amongst the selection of PVRs at Appliances Online, selected units also offer subscription services which give you greater recording capabilities, such as the ability to manage your recordings from portable mobile devices.

Check out the amazing possibilities of the PVR for yourself at Appliances Online.
